Israel’s extreme insecurity in general about the destroyed
villages is evident in the excessive use of razor wire at Ghabsiyya.
Demands by the refugees for justice or for their dignity to be respected
are not only ignored but encourage yet greater repression from the state.
Israel’s fear is that should it make any concession to the internal
refugees it might set a precedent for the millions of refugees outside
Israel to reclaim their former lands. (August 2005) |
