My friends Elias and Martina Shama in the underground channels of their bathhouse in Nazareth which several experts now say dates to the time of Jesus. The bathhouse has survived in the face of the Israeli Antiquities Authority’s original decision that it was less than a century old and could be demolished. Elias and Martina have preserved it themselves. (October 2003)
