Palestinian farmers in the village of Kfar Yasuf in the West Bank picking olives during the notorious harvest of 2002. In the background, on the ridge overlooking the groves, are the red-roofed homes of Tapuah, a settlement of Jewish religious extremists. Tapuah’s armed settlers stole many of the olives that year, firing at the villagers and beating them up to keep them away from their trees, with little intervention by the army. It was a pattern repeated across much of the West Bank that year. (October 2002)
