Palestinian workers in the countryside near Yabad, west of Jenin, making charcoal, most of it for sale to Israel. The smouldering piles extend for several miles, with a high demand from Israelis for cheap Palestinian charcoal for their barbecues. The charcoal industry provides work for local Palestinian families but at high cost for some of them: there are no health and safety regulations and lung cancer rates are reportedly high.
